Sore thumbs anyone?

I've been practicing the thumb triplets from the video, slowly, and the outsides of my thumbs at the 1st joint are sore. Maybe I need to adjust my technique or maybe develop a technique Is anyone else having this issue?

that passes, dont worry... when I first played one I couldn't believe the pain I was in.. didnt help that it was a sharp cornered basic model either I guess.. but yeah, just give your hands plenty of rest between sessions, get plenty of zinc and maybe a good hand cream and bash away

With all the respect i have to disagree. it is normal to have some degree of discomfort or pain,but(assuming you are playing a descent cajon)you are probably need to improve technic and to try playing softer.
